Planned, deployed, and supported Microsoft Windows computing (95 and NT) in a complex
medical computing research environment with more than 100 people. Integrated
Windows systems with Mac and Unix systems over TCP/IP-based networks.

1992—1996 Center for Advanced Medical Informatics at Stanford
Led technical aspects of research investigating mobile, pen-based clipboard
computers with wireless networking for meeting information needs in medical
care delivery. Studied clinical workflow and used scenario-based design
to develop experimental systems. Built and deployed systems at Stanford
Medical Center and at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Used
Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing with Visual BASIC, Visual C++, and Access;
Apple NewtonScript; and GO/EO PenPoint.

Managed computing environment for artificial intelligence research
lab, incorporating Unix, Macintosh, and Lisp Machine (Texas Instruments
Explorer and Symbolics) systems serving approximately 60 users. Developed
utilities such as file backup tools and user interface routines that were
widely used in the Lisp community. Provided programming assistance to graduate
students. Formed and ran the National Explorer User’s Society, with up
to 1,400 members. Led team of up to 4 people.
